
Meet Giovanni: The Engineer Turned Master Pizza Baker
My name is Giovanni, and my life is a testament to embracing challenges. Born and raised in Tuscany, Italy, I spent over 20+ years working as an engineer in the quality field. My career took an exciting turn when I moved to Oman, tasked with transferring my technical knowledge to local talents using my teaching and coaching skills..
Then, the pandemic struck, and I embraced the opportunity to learn Arabic, delving into the complexities of a new language and culture. But there was another challenge I couldn’t resist: baking the perfect pizza at home.
Determined to recreate the authentic flavors of Italy in my new country, I applied my engineering mindset to the culinary arts. I immersed myself in the science of baking, studying biochemistry, reading books, and taking various online courses. I found each course lacking in some way. However, by integrating the best parts of each, I achieved mastery over Neapolitan pizza, focaccia, and eventually, bread and sourdough.
I began sharing my creations with friends and colleagues, who were consistently amazed. Their common refrain was, “I have never tasted such a good pizza, not even in Italy.” This feedback, coupled with the growing popularity of my Instagram account (@lapizzadigiovanni), inspired me to take on another challenge: developing the ultimate pizza course.
Drawing from over 2 decades of teaching and coaching experience, I crafted comprehensive courses featuring videos, eBooks, and live coaching sessions. My goal is to make the art of pizza baking accessible to everyone, from beginners to seasoned cooks.
